Luxuriating in Seychelles

Seychelles

Description: Visa Free Destination

Mirante La Misere
I have embarked on a personal mission to see as many Visa Free locations as is humanly possible. The heartache from TLS and VFS is enough. This being the first spot, let me explain things.

Firstly, it’s a long flight. You have to go to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) which is about 5.5hours from Lagos, then do a layover of about 12hours before heading back to the airport to do another 3.5hours to Seychelles.

Sounds gruesome? It’s not that bad.

Ethiopia Airline issues transit visas and also gives free (basic) accommodation and feeding for the layover. You get into Addis Ababa maybe evening or night, so there’s not much to see. Then go back to the airport very early in the morning as well.
However, since we were a group we entered town to reduce the layover time, turns out the locals like Nigerians.
Also, visit the currency exchange at the airport if you think you’d go out later. The locals are so fixed on getting the "almighty dollar" from you. Everything is priced in dollar initially and then you can physically see the disappointment when you say you have their local currency (Birr)
Addis Ababa Bole International Airport
In Seychelles; we were all booked at Eden Island, which is a luxury development that offers everything you could need. It was so comfortable that I went to town maybe just twice during the 5day stay. It had its own marina, gymnasium, parks, clubs, restaurants, and even beaches.
Sounds boring, well I had spent my last getaway (Portugal) doing tourist stuff and I ended up stressing my body with all the walking and fitness. Also, Seychelles being an island is small so they mainly offer water based activities and very few sights. This trip was for rest, simply so.
Eden Island
We tried to explore the nightlife by visiting some place called ‘Barrel’, apparently it’s a hot spot for locals but wasn’t popping enough for we Nigerians. We ended up visiting the club on Eden Island, took a whole section and shut it down swiftly.

My Villa was a waterfront masterpiece with a pool, beautiful and picturesque stuff. Can’t swim, but made sure I dipped in that pool yo. Food was mainly sourced from Spar or Bravo Restaurant on Eden Island and also one of us turned out to be a chef so we had some homemade stuff as well. The local food is a mix of English and Indian dishes. Had a lot of Lamb Curry topped food and it wasn't bad at all.

The people are quite nice, and cute. On many occasions i found that we would just break out into 3-5mins discussions with the locals we encountered, “you’re Nigerian?” and that’s it.

Made a little video (actually two) of my stay here. It is on YouTube, search ‘SegunAO’. Don’t forget to Like (if you like it) and Subscribe.

I’ll be putting some stuff that interest me on there as soon as I work a bit on my video editing skills.

1st Visa Free travel was a Hit. In 2018, I would be looking for more places to visit.
